Homework Week 37 Board of Directors
The Board's role is to pull management out of the trees to see the forest.
- Pearl Zhu
- Every business, no matter how large or small, needs a Board of Directors
- A Board of Directors can start off small and informally
- A Board of Directors helps you see the forest for the trees, and helps you see things you may be missing
- The ideal size for a Board of Directors is 6 to 8 people, including yourself
- Your Board of Directors needs to have people with different skill sets and points of view to bring the most value to the table
- You need a mix of idea people, systems people, financial people, problem seers, problem solvers, and marketing people at the table. If you only have one personality type / skill set on your Board of Directors you will just crash faster
- The newer your business, the more frequently you will need to have a Board meeting.
- You should be having a Board of Directors meeting (virtual or in person) to go over your business and see where your opportunities are and where you might have problems and to brainstorm
- Participate in the call and ask questions
